What People Say
I attended Cindy's 8-week mindfulness practice course for teachers in 2016. Since then, I had the privilege of interacting and ideating together on so many initiatives with Cindy on student wellbeing, justice, inclusion, and educational equity. I have loved the work she has done with young people in elementary grades. Her vision for wellbeing, care for people, grounding her work in day-to-day realities, and still holding onto the hopes for new possibilities is inspiring. Grateful that our paths have crossed in this life.

Cindy exudes an aura of calm and grace, with how she approaches everyone and makes a genuine connection. Her cadence during sessions is patient and allows for concepts to be thoroughly meditated upon and absorbed. Cindy is who I seek out when I need an openminded, nonjudgmental and deeply caring ear, to hear me out and work through something in my heart.

Cindy has been instrumental in enabling our school to implement a school-wide social-emotional learning curriculum. As a member of our SEL team, she has helped us look critically at our programs, evaluate the curriculum's effectiveness, and advocate for modifications when programs fell short of our school-wide goals. Also, she has taken the lead in purposefully designing professional learning that enabled our staff to experience and understand personal wellness and its connection to teaching social-emotional learning. She guides us with intention, empathy, and resolution.

When I met Cindy, I was a stressed out teacher struggling to cope with day-to-day demands. I was immediately drawn to her groundedness, kindness, and expertise in mindfulness, a practice that I had always wanted to explore. When she offered an eight-week mindfulness course to colleagues, I jumped in, and I’m so glad I did because it was the start of what has become part of my identity as a person and educator. Her guidance and instruction during the course (and afterwards) was so effective that I found I was embodying mindfulness more with my colleagues, students, and outside of the work day. I became more aware of what was happening within me and around me, which, in turn, improved my relationships, my teaching practice, and my overall wellbeing. She has given me the gift of mindfulness and now I hope to share it with my students in the same calm, caring, and nurturing way Cindy does when she practices and guides others.

Cindy possesses a broad repertoire of approaches, demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of recent
developments in her field. Using her training in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Cindy has
regularly taught mindfulness-based courses for children and adults at ASB. Her interventions with
students employed a wide range of therapeutic tools, and she modeled the use of trauma-informed
language and practices. Cindy was always prepared to explore options, to partner with other
specialists who may be familiar with other tools, and – most importantly- to demonstrate an
openness to grow and develop further.

Personally, I benefited tremendously by being kinder to myself and by not allowing past mistakes to define who I am in the present. She gave me the tools and the strength to redefine who I am and to be less judgmental and more self-compassionate.

Cindy has been a profoundly impactful counselor with students in my school’s community. Her genuine connection with the students greatly increased their use of the tools she taught them. She helped them find what would work for them rather than just telling them what to do. She also partnered with the students’ parents and teachers to ensure wraparound support while the students were learning to cope with their anxiousness, anger, stress, etc. From what I observed, her expertise in mindfulness was especially useful in helping the children learn to self-regulate. I HIGHLY recommend Cindy.

I worked with Cindy in different settings, and attended her 8 week mindfulness course in Mumbai, India. The course was a great resource to feel more grounded, more present, and aware of my inner blocks. I experienced more peace, and ease as a result of attending it. What I particularly love about Cindy's course is her gentle, encouraging presence. She is highly skilled at guiding the process, and brings to it her own calm and encouraging presence, which fosters a safe environment, supporting openness and growth for participants.

The course and Cindy not only gave me insight into how the mind works, but also gave me tools to use on a regular basis to deal with day to day anxiety and stress. Now I am much more capable of reacting to certain situations in a way that lowers anxiety and helps me find peace. Cindy is extremely knowledgeable, kind, patient and caring, and she helps you learn to navigate and handle the stressors that life can unexpectantly throw at us. I cannot recommend Cindy highly enough, and it is a true joy to learn from her!
